
Football Science Institute (FSI) has announced a new educational collaboration with Olympique de Marseille to promote excellence in sports science in football. The collaboration will involve education, scientific research, and internships.
Olympique de Marseille is one of the most renowned football clubs in France, having won the Ligue 1 ten times, making them one of the most successful teams in French football history. The club has also enjoyed success at the international level, winning the UEFA Champions League in 1993 and reaching the final of the UEFA Europa League in 2018.
OM has a strong and dedicated following, with 18 million social media followers, making it one of the largest fan bases of French football. The Orange Vélodrome, OM’s home stadium, is one of the largest in France with a capacity of 67,000 seats.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Olympique de Marseille on joint projects that will help enhance football performance through our master courses,” said Bernardo Requena, co-founder of FSI.
Under the agreement, FSI will provide its academic-scientific structure to assist in the training and education of Olympique de Marseille’s professionals. This will include access to FSI’s online master programs in medicine, physiotherapy, injury rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, coaching, and nutrition, which will complement the daily practices of the club’s professionals.
According to Miguel Alonso Olympique de Marseille’s Academy Performance director, “It is a collaboration that will be very satisfying for us because we have the opportunity to work with a world reference in training such as FSI,and build a mutually beneficial collaboration.”
Furthermore, Football Science Institute’s postgraduate students will have the opportunity to perform professional internships with Olympique de Marseille, which will provide a unique opportunity for skills development, employability, and networking of FSI-accredited professionals.
